Safety Protocols

The New Jersey Hospital Association wants you to know that all statewide hospitals are committed to putting your safety and security first.

Hospitals are following stringent safety protocols to ensure they instill confidence in all individuals that visit the hospital.

All NJ hospitals follow these safety precautions:

  • Health screenings (which include temperature checks) for all employees and visitors entering the hospital

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect staff and patients

  • Keeping COVID-19 patients in a separate section of the hospital

  • COVID-19 testing of patients before procedures

  • Social distancing throughout the hospital

  • Use of facemasks by all patients (unless there is a medical reason not to)

  • Cleaning and disinfecting protocols for all areas

  • Limiting the number of visitors

Additional safety precautions that can vary by location include:

  • Contactless patient check-ins

  • Designated entrances for different treatments

  • Reconfigured public areas such as waiting rooms with plexiglass partitions

  • Negative pressure rooms to contain viral particles

  • Tech solutions such as UV germicidal lights to disinfect rooms and surfaces

  • Sprayers and fogging robots to distribute disinfectant evenly

  • Visitor restrictions, which may vary by location. Most hospitals allow one support person to accompany you into the hospital; check your hospital below
